Coach Alana Kinard (Coach K)
I ran both cross country and track in high school at Holy Family and college at Auburn University.
I started my coaching career volunteering at Holy Family HS as an assistant coach for both cross country and track. I completed school at Metro State and, as a part of my work study, I worked in the classroom teaching AVID classes and coaching cross country, basketball(head c team coach), and track(head distance coach) at Skyview HS. I have a degree in Secondary Teaching (English) and a minor in Sport Coaching.
As of this season (2026), I've been coaching the Jefferson Academy MS program for 10 years.
In total, I have roughly 26 years of coaching. I love interacting with the student athletes and teaching them about the sports I am so passionate about.

Coach Makayla Kinard & Emmett (Mini K & Baby Coach)
A "recent" (2021) graduate of Jefferson Academy, I was part of the first class of JAXC MS program and ran thru High School. Aside from cross country, I participated in basketball, golf and soccer for JA. This is my third season helping coach the middle school cross country team.
After JA, I started my college career in Arizona attending Arizona State University for several years before returning home. I currently attend Metropolitan State University and work full time for UCHealth.
Baby Coach, as of the 2026 season, is just under 2yrs old and has loved attending practices and meets and getting to know our runners!
We look forward to a great season and helping continue to nurture the success that our MS program has enjoyed for many years.
